About the Tunbridge Wells Fly Fishing Society:

The Society is a friendly group people interested in the art of fly fishing. We are based in Tunbridge Wells in Kent & welcome members from the surrounding areas of Kent, Sussex & London

The membership covers all levels of ability & consists of Senior England International fly fishermen & many other very experienced anglers, all of whom are willing to pass on their knowledge. There have been many members that have joined the Society with little or no knowledge of trout fishing that have become very competent fly fishermen

The Society runs a summer programme of fly fishing events at a variety of different waters to suit the bank fishermen & those that prefer to fish from boats. A week long trip to fish the limestone Loughs of the West of Ireland has become an annual pilgrimage for Society members & more recently a long weekend trip to fish the Midlands reservoirs has also been introduced

There is a very sociable side to the Society that often involves a beer after the fishing to chat through the success or otherwise of the day

The Society has several cups & shields to be fished for during the year & has a competition team that represents the Society in National competitions

We hold a prestigious Presentation Dinner Dance in March every year where the trophies & awards are presented to the winners

History of Society:

The Society was formed in 1991 by a group of 10 friends & colleagues that fished together occasionally. The inaugural meeting was held in the Cross Keys, St Johns Road Tunbridge Wells. The idea was to create a small, friendly fly fishing Society with a programme of organised fishing days so that we could enjoy each others company on a more regular basis. The format of the Society was discussed & a constitution was agreed. The Tunbridge Wells Fly Fishing Society was born

At the initial meeting the Society's key objectives were set & still remain: To promote the sport of fly fishing & to improve it's members skills, to promote friendship & encourage camaraderie amongst it's members & to encourage juniors into the sport

To this day we still have 5 founder members sitting on the Committee & 2 others only left because they went to the great trout fishery in the sky

The Society continues to grow & still maintains the friendly nature that was originally intended
