The Society was formed in 1991 by a group of 10 friends and colleagues that fished together occasionally

The inaugural meeting was held in the Cross Keys, St Johns Road Tunbridge Wells. The idea was to create a small, friendly fly fishing Society with a programme of organised fishing days so that we could enjoy each others company on a more regular basis. The format of the Society was discussed and a constitution was agreed. The Tunbridge Wells Fly Fishing Society was born

At the initial meeting the Society's key objectives were set and still remain: To promote the sport of fly fishing and to improve it's members skills, to promote friendship and encourage camaraderie amongst it's members and to encourage juniors into the sport

To this day, five of the original founders continue as members of the Society after giving valuable service for many years on the committee

The Society continues to grow and still maintains the friendly nature that was originally intended
